The course “PLAXIS for underground excavation in rock”<\/strong>, part of the post 6th Brazilian Congress on Tunnels and Underground Structures<\/strong><\/a>, will take place on March 14th, at 8:00 AM, at WeWork Avenida Paulista (SP). The initiative, promoted by the Brazilian Tunnelling Committee (CBT) in partnership with Seequent<\/a><\/strong>, will be in person and presented in English.<\/p>\n

Richard Witasse<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The course will be taught by Richard Witasse<\/strong>, principal application engineer<\/em> at Bentley Systems, a specialist in geotechnical analysis and engineering, with over 20 years of experience in the sector. Since 2008, he has worked with PLAXIS, offering consulting, support, and training to professionals in the field.<\/p>\n

Participants will have an in-depth experience in the use of PLAXIS for modeling and analysis of underground excavations in rock<\/strong>, exploring support and reinforcement strategies, as well as the use of tools such as Tunnel Designer. Advanced concepts will also be explored, such as the assessment of plastic radii, complex in-situ stresses, and the application of the convergence-confinement method for tunnel excavation.<\/p>\n

The course will last 8 hours and will be conducted in English, in addition to offering a PLAXIS training license valid for 15 days.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The objectives of the meeting are: to understand the modeling workflow in PLAXIS for underground excavation in rock; to learn how to simulate the behavior of the rock mass with appropriate support and reinforcement; to explore key concepts of excavation, such as the evaluation of the plastic radius and complex stress conditions; to apply the convergence-confinement method for tunnel stability analysis; and to familiarize themselves with PLAXIS tools, including the Tunnel Designer, for efficient project configuration and analysis.<\/p>\n

For the best use of practical activities, it is essential that participants bring notebooks. Certificates will be issued to participants.<\/p>\n

Registration<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Registration will open from next Friday (02\/14) and will be carried out on a first-come, first-served basis. There are 40 preferential spots for CBT members registered in the 6th CBT. The remaining spots will be available to other people registered for the event.<\/p>\n

Registration confirmation will be subject to the payment of a fee of R$ 50.00 (via PIX or credit card). The charge will be sent by email or WhatsApp, and failure to pay within 48 hours will result in the loss of the spot.<\/p>\n
